Levana Privacy Policy
For Levana on Android · Last updated: October 16, 2026
Levana is a Hebrew calendar and moon app. It has no account, no sign-in, no advertising and no analytics, and it does not track you across apps or websites. This page explains what the app keeps on your phone, what leaves it, and why.
What stays on your phone
Levana stores the following on your device only, in the app’s own storage:
- Your settings: holiday calendar (Israel or outside Israel), moon orientation, candle-lighting and Shabbat-end preferences, and your reminder choices.
- Your location: the city, region, country, time zone and approximate coordinates you chose or that “Use my location” found, so the app can calculate sunset and Shabbat times.
- Your reflection notes: anything you write in Reflect, with its question and date.
None of this is sent to us. We have no server, and we cannot see your notes, your location or your settings. Uninstalling the app deletes all of it.
Backups. Like most apps, Levana’s data may be included when your phone is backed up, to your Google account if Android backup is on, or to a computer. Those backups are yours and are governed by Google’s terms; we have no access to them.
Location and city search
Levana only uses location to calculate sunset, candle-lighting and Shabbat times for where you are. You never have to share it: you can type a city name instead.
“Use my location” asks Android for a one-time, approximate position (about 1 km). To find that position, your phone may contact Google’s location service, as it does for any app. Levana then sends the coordinate once to Android’s geocoder (provided by Google Play services) to learn the city name and region; the time zone is worked out on your phone. Levana never reads your location in the background.
City search sends what you type to Android’s geocoder (provided by Google Play services) to find matching places and their coordinates.
These requests go to Google, not to us, and are handled under Google’s privacy policy. We do not receive them.
Reminders
Reminders for Rosh Chodesh, the full moon, your monthly reflection, candle lighting and holidays are optional and off until you turn them on. They are scheduled on your phone itself; there is no notification server, and nothing about your reminders leaves the device. Android may show them on your lock screen or on a paired watch, as with any app’s notifications.
Sharing a note
Each reflection note has a Share button. If you use it, the note’s text is handed to the Android share sheet and goes only to the app or person you choose. Levana does not send notes anywhere on its own.
Diagnostics from Google
If you have opted in to sharing usage and diagnostics data in your phone’s settings, Google may provide us, through Google Play, with anonymized crash reports and aggregated usage statistics for Levana. These come from Google, contain no notes, locations or names, and cannot be used to identify you. You can turn this off at any time in those settings. Apart from this, we receive no information from the app.
Links in the app
The Contact Us button opens your email app with our address. Nothing is sent until you choose to send it.
Children
Levana is suitable for all ages and does not knowingly collect information from anyone, including children.
Changes
If this policy changes, the new version will appear here and on our website with a new date.
